Syrah is one of the two varieties we built the estate around, and the one we spend most time on in the vineyard. We do as little as possible in the winery with it and make the wine out in the rows instead. "We firmly believe that great wine is made in the vineyard," says Matt Patterson-Green, our Head Winemaker.
The stones give it an extra two or three hours of ripening into the evening, which pushes the fruit past its green edge and into spice and black pepper, with fine tannins and a long finish.
